A hunter dedicated to keeping the world safe from monsters has one final monster to fight.
This story is from Year 8, The Year of Revisitation
I revisit one of the stories I’ve already written, and write a new standalone story connected to or inspired by the existing one through a character, a place, an object, a continuation of events (okay, sequel), and so on.
Music: “Deep” by Nicholas Jeudy (Dark Fantasy Studio)
This is it! The last story of Year 8: The Year of Revisitation.
So, what story am I revisiting in this one? None in particular. Monsters and creatures appear in a lot of my stories. But as I was feeling reflective about this past year of storytelling, it was natural for me to write a character who is also reflecting back on a…slightly different profession.
A lifetime of monster-hunting.
[Video Description: Trailer. Duration, 43 seconds. Music: “Deep” by Nicholas Jeudy. Digital drawing. Composite of several figures in silhouette. Bottom foreground left and center, two figures from chest up with various missing limbs and digits reach to the right. They are zombies. Bottom foreground right, a figure from chest up holding both hands against their head. Shadows representing gravestones lie at angles behind them. Left moving into frame is a ghostly cloud in which the outline of a face and a hand are visible. Right of frame, sitting on an outcropping, a werewolf howls against a glowing moon. Top center at a distance, floating in the sky, a vampire wearing a cloak and reaching out. At center from back, a hooded figure from torso up holding a long stake propped over the right shoulder. Upper left corner, a patch of stalactites. Title card with the words “Short Story” and “Genre: Horror” and the story title are displayed in front of the image. The title card and story title fade. Lines from the story appear over the image: “Curses and cures. Curses and cures. I’ve tried everything. Like most people in my position…flecks of blood in my eye. My joints have started to ache…My vision has started to flicker. And…now I’m finally afraid. It won’t be long now.” The title reappears at top just before the last line appears. A watermark of the site URL appears at bottom center right throughout.]
