This story is from Year 8, The Year of Revisitation
I revisit one of the stories I’ve already written, and write a new standalone story connected to or inspired by the existing one through a character, a place, an object, a continuation of events (okay, sequel), and so on.
This week, I’m not revisiting a particular story but a concept from Year 7 that was never developed. I went back to notes on story ideas I ended up not writing about last year. I found a writing prompt that asked what my wrestler name and special move would be. One option I came up with was the name “Molecular” and the special move “PCR,” which in molecular biology stands for “polymerase chain reaction”, but in the ring would stand for the even more exciting “Power Crush Reaction.” (I chose this name and move because I have an educational and work background in the biological sciences.) The title and concept of this story is an homage to GLOW, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, which I watched when I was a kid (and, yes, I thought it was all real). As an adult, I’ve also enjoyed watching the Netflix series. Though this story is not revisiting any particular story, I have written before about fighters in an arena (link below).
