When an accident leaves two colleagues stranded in their vessel in an unfamiliar region of space, they call for help, but find they must rely on each other in the end…whatever end that might be.

Video Description: “Cosmic Cheesecake Dust” Trailer. Duration, 37 seconds. “Ground Control” by Andrea Baroni. Digital drawing. Two people, facing forward and floating. At left a human woman with short hair, left arm held out and right hand poised to grip or brace against the ceiling above. At right, a humanoid man with three sets of arms, a lavender tongue, tapered ears, and thick wavy hair. His left arms are braced against the ceiling and wall. In one right hand he holds a small device. They are both wearing the same drably colored clothes, though the woman has a bright shirt just visible below her collar. Bright orange lights glow above them and reflect down on them. A bright light appears behind them, dimming at the margins. Both people hold their mouths open and their eyes slightly wide. Title card with the words “Short Story” and “Genre: Science Fiction,” is displayed at center. Tagline is displayed at bottom. It reads: “When an accident leaves two colleagues stranded in their vessel in an unfamiliar region of space, they call for help, but find they must rely on each other in the end…whatever end that might be.” Title card and tagline fade. A watermark of the word “storyfeather” appears over the image. Lines from the story appear in sequence: “‘How does he know we’re not in any imminent danger, unless he lets us look into it?’ ‘Is that any more logical than telling us to do nothing and send an hourly status update about how we’ve done nothing?’ ‘He is aware that each time we send a needless update, it’ll drain our reserves, right?’ ‘I know it’s not the same as the ‘authentic’ stuff, but I think you’ve earned a synthesized cheesecake.’” Site URL appears at bottom center throughout and fades at end. As the last line disappears, the image blurs and darkens, the story title appears at center, a trail of sparkles appear and arc around the title, and a text card appears at top that reads “Available to Read Now storyfeather.com.”
Welcome to Year 10 of Storyfeather
Every year’s short stories (mostly) follow a theme. For Year Ten, every month’s stories share a genre or theme, some anchor point that the reader can rely on. But within that, there are strange concoctions brewing. The genre’s merge, archetypes collide, mythologies mash…welcome to the Year of Fusion.
November’s Base Elements:
SPACE-VEMBER 🚀MEETS LOVEMBER 💙

The first story of November. The base element for the November stories is “Space-vember Meets Lovember.” Space and love will be in each story in some way. Why are there two base elements? Because I couldn’t decide. Well, actually, I’m always up for doing space stories. But Lovember sound more like November, so… This the level of logic that goes into such decisions.
For this week’s story, the one fusion element is…cheesecake. I threw space, love, and cheesecake into the Storyfeather Technologies Fiction Fusion Reactor. And I wanted to explore a less obvious form of love, the love that colleagues have for each other, and how that love emerges when they are in a bind together.
