Weatherman Cliff Blazer is always receiving blazers from his fans. But the latest one he receives really takes the cake.
This story is from Year 8, The Year of Revisitation
I revisit one of the stories I’ve already written, and write a new standalone story connected to or inspired by the existing one through a character, a place, an object, a continuation of events (okay, sequel), and so on.
Music: “Casual Theme #6 (Triumph)” by Andy Ray
Outerwear gone rogue! I’ve written about it before, only last time, it was a technological issue, in a story called “One Killer Jacket.” This time, it’s (possibly) a fantastical, magical issue. I choose blazer, fashionable blazers, extravagant blazers. And why did I think of a weatherman? Probably because in a recent review of the stories, I came across “The Rainheralds,” in which weather magic was a major component. And I’m pretty sure I haven’t written about a weather forecaster before…
[Video Description: Trailer. Duration, 43 seconds. Music: “Casual Theme #6 (Triumph),” by Andy Ray. Digital drawing. A weatherman facing forward and standing slightly left of center before a screen showing a generic map. He has on a fancy-looking blazer patterned with sparkling stars and colorful nebulas. He holds his hands to the blazer’s button. His left eyebrow is arched. On the weather display, bottom right, a snow flurry is moving in. Top left, an overlay of temperatures. Top right, a cloud under which raindrops and cats and dogs are falling.. The words “Short Story” and “Genre: Fantasy” are displayed in front of the image. The title card fades and first the tagline then lines from the story appear from top to bottom: “’How hot will it be, Cliff?’ Cliff grinned, cocked his head, and raised his brow at the camera. ‘Hot enough to melt the wax in your uncle’s ears.’ By that evening…There was another strange medical mystery when several men reported to the local hospital, because their ears were leaking a strange fluid…which turned out to be wax. All the men happened to be uncles.” The title appears at bottom as the last line appears and fades. A watermark of the site URL appears at bottom left throughout.]
