Attack of the Vacuum Machine Army

Six kids explore the possibility that dogs have been trying to warn humanity about a terrible enemy in their midst…vacuum machines.

This story is from Year 8, The Year of Revisitation
I revisit one of the stories I’ve already written, and write a new standalone story connected to or inspired by the existing one through a character, a place, an object, a continuation of events (okay, sequel), and so on.

Music: “The Superiority (looped)” by Andy Ray

MILESTONE ALERT! This is story number 400!

The kids who wrote an original play for a school production, now aim to make a movie with an original script over their summer vacation.  Somehow the theme is again about an alien invasion.

Non-spoiler fun facts from background info that didn’t make it into the story, or was cut from the story. Puddle’s full name is Puddle-jumper, because he liked to jump into puddles when he was a puppy.  Duke’s full title is Duke of Dormagen.  Rhine picked it after she looked up cities that the Rhine flowed through (the river after which she was named).  She liked the way the town’s name sounded like some kind of “kingdom from a fantasy epic.”

Video description

Video Description: Trailer. Duration, 41 seconds. Music: “The Superiority (looped)” by Andy Ray. Digital drawing. Art deco inspired poster. At bottom center, a terrier with a determined expression, wearing a collar, standing and facing left, seen in three-quarters view. Flanking the dog are the ghostly images of two modern vacuum cleaners. Behind the dog is an art deco marquee pattern of a fan set in a holder. Above the dog’s head is the title of the story. Above the title, at top center, is a vintage vacuum machine with the hose missing, facing front. The words “Short Story” and “Genre: Science Fiction” are displayed in front of the image. The title card and title fades and lines from the story appear over the image: “They were right all along. ‘What do they know that we don’t know?’ ‘What are they trying to protect us from?’ This is my home too!  And it is in danger.  I wouldn’t lie.  Not about that. If the law won’t help us, we’ll have to turn to…the outlaw.” A watermark of the site URL appears at bottom right throughout.

Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy

Portal Button. Elongated rectangle with rings of colored light emanating from the center. Text appears over the rings, reading "Storyfeather Year 8" and below it in larger font, "Revisitation."
